RBI to issue Rs 10 coins to mark International Yoga Day
- Reserve Bank will soon issue 10 rupee denomination coins to commemorate International Yoga Day.
- Obverse Side
- The obverse side of the coins will bear Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with legend Satyameva Jayate inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word Bharat in Devnagri script. While, on the right periphery it will be flanked with the word ‘INDIA’ in English.
- The coin will bear the Rupee symbol and denominational value ‘10’ in the international numerals below the Lion Capital.
- Reverse side
- While on the reverse, the coin will bear the logo of ‘International Day of Yoga’, with inscription ‘Samanjasya evam Shanti ke Liye Yog’ in Devnagri script and ‘YOGA FOR HARMONY AND PEACE’ around the logo and design.
- The date ‘21 JUNE’ will be at the bottom of the logo. The inscription ‘Antarrashtriya Yog Divas’ in Devnagri script on left periphery and ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA’ in English on the right periphery would be written.
Centre declares August 7 as National Handloom Day
- The Centre has declared 7th August as National Handloom Day beginning from this year throughout the country.
- The first National Handloom Day will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai on 7th August. On the occasion the Sant Kabir Awards and National Awards
for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will be awarded and a new ‘India
Handloom’ brand for better market positioning of quality handloom
products would be launched
- Observance of National Handloom Day would generate
awareness about the importance of handloom industry, promote handloom
products and lead to increase in income of weavers. Over 43 lakh persons
are engaged in handloom weaving and allied activities in India as per
the last handloom census.
Govt revises scheme for Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups
- Ministry of Tribal Affairs has revised the Central Sector Scheme known as, Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Now, the Ministry will provide 100% financial assistance to PVTG through the State Governments.
- Under the Scheme, priority is accorded to protection, and
improvement in social indicators like livelihood, health, nutrition and
education. At present, there are 75 tribal groups identified and categorized as PVTGs, earlier known as Primitive Tribal Groups.
- Under the Scheme, Financial assistance to PVTGs will
be utilized for activities including housing, land distribution and
land development, agricultural development, animal husbandry,
construction of link roads, installation of non-conventional sources of
energy or other innovative activity, for the comprehensive
socio-economic development of PVTGs, based on Conservation-cum-Development (CCD) Plan.
- At present there are 75 tribal groups identified and categorized as
Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), (earlier known as
Primitive Tribal Groups) located in the States/UT of AP, Bihar,
Jharkhand, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, MP, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra,
Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, TN, Tripura, UP, Uttarakhand, West-Bengal
and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
